Power facilities targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while local people in the city's east were left without electricity and dealt with problems to drinking water, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Russian forces has intensified strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the US, European nations and the G7 - in providing protection systems and enforcing restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 projectiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such attacks as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A series of attacks hit power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.

The strikes succeed nights of air raids in the region, sections of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the country's energy grid, with assaults already affecting energy systems.

He said energy workers and officials were bracing for further attacks.
