Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.
Officers then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A senior official commented the incident rendered him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
